Melrose Same Day HVAC Repair

If you’re having problems with your HVAC system, the fastest possible response-and-repair sequence.

But many people end up doing endless searches that put them in an endless maze of availability, pricing, and services, with no way of knowing which is best.

It doesn’t have to be that way, though. You can get the best possible same-day HVAC service with a single phone call, and that phone call can produce a visit from the best company in the business—128 Plumbing.

It does help to be prepared, though, so here’s some important information about what you need to do before you call us. Whether your problem is about heating replacement and repairs, emergency boiler repairs or heating and cooling services, we can get to you right away and solve your problem.

How to Prepare for Your HVAC Service Call

When you call us, we can help you a lot faster if you’re prepared to answer some fairly basic questions.

o Where are the HVAC units in your home?

Some people aren’t aware that they have multiple HVAC units in their home, nor do they know where they’re located.

Not to worry—it’s not hard to figure out. Simply examine your HVAC system and give us your best idea of what it includes, i.e., furnace, boiler, AC unit, ductless splits, and so on. Any information you can give us is helpful—it will help our techs know where to look when we arrive.

o Know your HVAC system model numbers

If you only have a single HVAC unit, that obviously makes the process simpler, but you can still help us out by providing the model number. If we’re coming out that day to fix a problem, use can bring the right parts, which can simplify the repair considerably.

o Explain your problem as clearly as possible

We don’t expect a detailed explanation of what’s happening, of course, but a clear overview of your situation gives us a starting point and an idea of what the specific problem might be.

We can help you by asking some simple questions, but the more you can tell us, the faster and smoother things will go when we arrive.

o Make sure someone’s home

Many people try to schedule a same-day service call, only to realize that in their rush to get help they’ve neglected to mention that they’re about to go out for most of the day.

To help us fix your problem, it helps to do a little planning. If you can’t be home, call on someone who can—a partner or spouse, a family member, or even a friend.

If we know that in advance we can get all the information we need, which means we can solve your problem that much faster.

o Get the necessary permission

If you’re a tenant, you’ll need to get permission from your landlord or the property owner to have your HVAC unit serviced.

That permission can be as quick and simple as a text or a phone call, or your landlord can go the extra mile and authorize whatever repairs are necessary. Either way, we will need some kind of permission to repair your HVAC system.

Know Your Maintenance Steps

One of the things we’re sure to ask about when we do same-day service is what kind of maintenance you’ve been doing on your HVAC system.

If it’s been a while, there’s no need to be embarrassed about it. We do same-day repairs on plenty of HVAC systems that have been overlooked for quite a while, in some cases even years.

If you have done maintenance, congratulations—you’re already an A+ customer. Here are a few of the things we’ll want to know:

o When were your filters last changed?

The filters are the equivalent of the lungs of your HVAC system, and if they haven’t been changed in a while, your system could be having the HVAC equivalent of breathing problems.

Ideally, they should be changed annually, but telling us when this last happened will give us a good idea of whether we need to have a complete set of replacement filters in hand when we arrive.

o Have you checked your system for debris?

If your setup is like that of most residential properties, you have an outdoor unit that regulates summer cooling, but that unit also plays an important role in winter heating.

Debris can prevent this heating from happening, so we’ll want to know if you have any buildup so we can clear it if necessary.

o When was the last time your coils were cleaned?

Similarly, the coils in your HVAC system are vulnerable to dirt and debris, so we want to make sure that’s not part of the problem.

If we know that your coils have been cleaned recently, that makes our same-day call that much easier, and if they haven’t we’ll know that’s going to be part of the call.

o Have your blowers been cleaned lately?

Your blowers are indoor units, but they’re responsible for pushing air out of the system. If they’re on but not circulating air, you’re paying for a running motor that’s basically doing nothing. Knowing the status of your blowers can help us isolate the problem that much faster.

o Know your ducts

The condition of your ducts is very important when it comes to same-day calls, so the more you can tell us, the more we can be prepared in advance.

There are four different duct systems that are the most common—sheet metal, lined fiberglass, fiberboard and flex, which is actually flexible plastic over a metal coil.

If you can’t identify what your ducts are made of, though, not to worry. We’ll likely know from your brand and model number what the ducts are made of, but if we can confirm that in advance it can be very helpful.

Get the Benefits of Teamwork

One of the biggest reasons to call us for same-day HVAC service is that you’ll be dealing with a team of multiple experts that includes HVAC techs, electricians and plumbers.
